Why blink rate

Deep focus quietly drops your blink rate — and you won't notice until your eyes do.

Reading, coding, designing, and meetings on screen can cut blink rate well below its resting baseline. BlinkSense keeps a private, real-time readout of that rate so a drop is visible before it becomes discomfort.

How the detection pipeline works

From camera frame to alert, entirely on-device.

    Capture & landmarks

    The front camera feeds a local vision pipeline — Apple Vision, ML Kit, or ARKit TrueDepth blend shapes — that finds your eyes every frame.

  2. 02

    EAR & calibration

    Left and right Eye Aspect Ratio is computed against its own baseline, calibrated only from plausibly open-eye frames so a closed-eye startup can't poison it.

  3. 03

    BPM & alert zones

    A debounced blink-state machine produces a rolling BPM, compared against healthy / low / critical zones with quiet hours and category-aware thresholds.

BlinkSense tracks thermal-state transitions, capture/Vision FPS, dropped frames, CPU time, and resident memory so you can see how tracking is behaving — and steps analysis down automatically under thermal load. Diagnostics are counters only: no camera frames, no face data, and the JSON export never leaves your device.

Your face is not our product.

All camera analysis runs locally on your device. No camera frames, facial data, or session video ever leave the device or get uploaded — verified in Settings and in the code itself.

Is BlinkSense a medical device?

No. BlinkSense is an awareness tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

Does BlinkSense record me?

No. All camera analysis happens locally on-device. No camera frames, facial data, or session video ever leave the device or get uploaded — there is no networking path in the tracker.

What is Docked Mode?

A keep-awake, dimmed near-black overlay for when your phone or Mac sits docked on the desk facing you. It stops the display sleeping or glaring while tracking continues in the foreground — camera access on iOS can't run in the background, so Docked Mode is the accepted workaround for desk-docked counting.

Which devices does it support?

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows, Android, and iOS — with a Vision app using the front camera and a Sense app using ARKit TrueDepth on compatible iPhones. Download links for current device-test builds are below; iOS requires TestFlight or Xcode until the Apple Developer account is active.

Will it interrupt my work?

Alerts are configurable per zone, category-aware, and support quiet hours — you decide when and how BlinkSense speaks up, and can pause it anytime.
